Ya its correct. The particle having some initial velocity will never stop if its velocity gets half in any interval. The velocity may become infinitely small, but will never be 0.
 This is an infinitely decreasing GP

yes the particle will never come to rest. even something of this kind is a paradox in quantum mechanics.
 here it is right that the velocity will never go to zero but it will tend to zero.
