Please elaborate solvation [ie hydration] and hydrolysis by pointing out their similarities and differences. Give some good eg.s/points/reactions etc. from JEE and AIEEE point of view.

 Can someone explain the mechanism of hydrolysis?

HYDRATION ENERGY is the one responsible for the seperation of cations and anions due to which an ionic compound dissolves...it takes plase only in pola solvent..
 THIS MECHANISM LEADS TO SOLUBILITY OF THE IONIC COMPOUND....
 ....
 while hydrolysis is the dissolution of the compound when it reacts with water...by dissolution here i mean the chemical breakdown...

 as ex....we can take of Nacl...
 due to hydration of the compound..Na formed is the hydrated cation and Cl is the hydrated anion..

there's some mistake.....

 it takes 'PLACE' only in 'POLAR' solvent....
